Can meditation reduce asthma attacks?
It is well known that periods of high stress can increase the frequency and severity of chronic asthma attacks. But, can meditation reduce asthma attacks? Meditation reduces stress and stress-related hormone levels and many advocates insist that it has worked miracles for them.

Beginning with your toes, you want to consciously tense your toes and then slowly, ever so slowly relax them. Feel the pleasure of the muscles slowly relaxing. Next, do the same tensing and relaxing technique with your feet. Then move to your ankles; follow that with your calves. Move slowly up your legs, tensing and relaxing each muscle group and pushing any extraneous thoughts out of your mind. Continue performing this process, moving up your down, down your arms to your fingertips and into your shoulders and all the way to the very top of your scalp.
Can meditation reduce asthma attacks? It is very possible that the removal of stress that you will experience as the result of meditation can, in fact, reduce the frequency and severity of chronic asthma attacks. Even if this does not happen for you, you will complete your meditation sessions feeling happy, relaxed, and rested. You’ll possibly avoid some of the major health problems that result from chronic stress and hopefully, have fewer asthma attacks.
There are other relaxation techniques such as guided imagery that you may wish to try as complimentary therapies for your asthma. Do not stop seeing your physician and never stop taking prescription medication without the advice of your doctor.
