Google Slap 3 - Revenge of the marketer!
Although Google Slap 3 is now behind us all, for some internet marketers it left painful wounds that haven’t yet been healed. If you read carefully, you might find out very important things about slapping back.
But first of all, what’s the whole purpose of GS3 ? You probably noticed a bunch of lousy looking pages filled with adsense. Well, these guys are click dealers - buying cheap clicks and selling them expensive.. resulting in profits for them but poor quality experience for the user and more expensive traffic for the legitimate business sites. Google decided to kill this practice and this is the whole purpose of Google Slap 3. So if you are not doing what I described, you are not the one targeted by this - therefore you can avoid it very cleverly.
After reading the previous paragraph, if you think about it a little, you will notice that "Big Daddy" is only doing us honest marketers a favor - because in the long term if the click dealers prospered the user might have avoided clicking the "ads in the right" because of being used to find some low quality sites there - resulting in lower CTR for the paid ads - therefore a higher cost..
With all these being said, better than going "Oh my God it’s GS3 - Everything is ruined!" - the best thing to do is focus on "How can I make this work for me? What are the opportunities that come with it?". For example a week before actually applying the slap, many advertisers panicked due to a glitch of the G algorithm that showed some keywords inactive.. Many paused their campaigns, so the "brave" ones that knew what they were doing got to pay less for advertisement another week after that..
So, what’s the solution ? Simple - Make landing page content relevant to the keywords you bid on - it’s as simple as that. And try not to make a simple "one-page landing page" - try to make it look like a site, add a few articles on it.
Whatever you do, I strongly suggest you not to put adsense on your landing page - because eliminating click dealers is the first declared purpose of Google Slap 3!
