Quick fix golf tips
I have played golf all my life and I have taken the time to completely rebuild my swing over the last few years. I have tried all kinds of golf tips and golf training aids. I have read many of the great golf books and tried many of the drills and techniques. I have worked with some ok golf instructors and I have worked with the best golf instructors that work with the pros.
I guess you can say I have tried all kinds of things to improve my game over the years. I have only seen dramatic improvement in my golf swing over the last couple of years when I finally learned what it really takes to change my swing for the better and make lasting changes.
Since I have figured out what it takes to truly get better at golf and make lasting changes in my swing I can tell you there are no quick fixes that are meaningful. I have seen great improvement in hours after taking a lesson with a great golf instructor but it took time to make this change solid to where it was an unconscious part of my swing and it would hold up consistently on the course.
I wanted to write this article after I browsed around the internet looking at some of the golf instruction web sites. It is amazing how many sites claim to be able to fix you swing, slice, hook, putting, etc. in 30 minutes or in no time at all. Sure, I could take a golfer out right now and get him to stop slicing the ball.
There are all kinds of changes that can be made to get a golfer to stop slicing the ball. I could change their setup, grip, have them roll their hands more through impact, etc. There are many quick fixes that can be done. The problem is there are probably many other changes that need to be corrected to develop a solid swing that is truly better designed to hit the ball straighter.
When a golfer has a slice, that golfer has many other problems with their swing that have compensated because of the slicing problem. Lets say the golfer slices due to coming over the top on the downswing. Because of this the golfers lower body probably opens up too much on the downswing and doesn’t properly shift the weight to the left side. The golfer’s grip probably has compensated in some way to try to hit the ball straighter. The golfer probably holds onto the release of his hands because if they properly release the hands the ball will go hard left. The shoulders are probably in the complete wrong positions throughout the swing. The golfers setup is also completely off.
Wow, that is a lot of stuff isn’t it but this is the typical golfer that slices the ball. So with all these problems how can any golf book or instructor claim to fix a golfers slice in no time or if you just read their book they will fix you slice. The only way is to put a band aid on the golfers problem.
Now if the golfer really wants to fix their slice it will take a system, good instruction and more time. This is what I finally did after years of trying to find fixes for my swing like most golfers. I developed a solid plan like the tour pros and I have finally seen incredible consistent improvement in my swing.
If you want a quick band aid fix then read all the golf books you want and try their immediate golf game improving tips. In the end you will still be the same old golfer that hits a big slice often and will see no improvement in your handicap.
If you really want lasting improvement in you game and have many years of fun golf then start a golf improvement system that will really make a difference. You are going to practice anyway, you might as well do it 100% correct.
